Bio: Blue Reinhard is an artist, educator, and curator based in Los Angeles, California. In 2025, they curated Then & There: queering jewish futures, an exhibition that sought to reimagine Jewish practice through queer epistemologies, featured in Circa: Queer Histories Festival. Their paintings have also been featured in publications such as New Voices, PRISM International, and The Radical Jewish Calendar, and in Los Angeles galleries such as Rusha & Co, Junior High LA, and Avenue 50 Studio. They have led interdisciplinary workshops at galleries such as Hauser & Wirth and Oxy Arts. They currently teach Drawing Fundamentals at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
Statement: Queer futurity and Jewish mysticism deeply inform Reinhard’s sacred paintings, votive objects, and painterly sculptures, as they seek to generate and embody new truths grounded in ancient percipience. In their oil paintings, moments of tenderness and mundanity, like feeding raspberries to a friend or using Hanukkah candles to light cigarettes, become sacred acts. They depict these scenes with intensely vibrant colors and surreal dimensionality on often nontraditional and sculptural surfaces, embracing the queer instinct to reimagine and recreate the world. By inviting viewers to bless sculptural candles, forage for prophetic coins inside gumball machines, and take off their shoes to step in sand, Reinhard’s interactive installations explore how collective rituals cultivate intimacy through radical joy.
