Bio: Juneau Macphee (b. 1990) is an interdisciplinary artist, illustrator, and graphic novelist hailing from Dawson City, Yukon. She co-organizes the northern comics collective Hecate Press, where she edited their recent ‘Mixtape’ anthology. With an educational background in literature and mythology, coupled with studying at the Yukon School of Visual Arts and Max the Mutt College of art and design, Juneau flexes her story-telling muscles through creating rich visual narratives that synthesize her own personal mythos with the broader cultural stories she lives within. Her personal work has been featured in The Northern Gaze anthology by Hecate press (Yukon), as part of Sum Gallery for the Queer Arts festival (Vancouver, BC), and in Arnica Artist run center (Kamloops, BC). She has spoken on panels at Angouleme International Comic Festival (Angouleme, France) and Helsinki Comics Festival (Helsinki, Finland), and received various Yukon grants such as the Advanced Artist Award and Culture Quest. She has recently finished her first children’s book, and is currently working on a larger graphic novel.
