Description: In the late 1960s, Bruce Nauman produced a series of films and videos in which his own body enacted a range of “art” actions within a large studio space. Among these works was Walk with Contrapposto, which draws on the pose favored by Renaissance sculptors. In my video, I created an AI-generated composite of my body, Nauman’s, and that of a generic fashion model, using it to engage with the spatial and material backdrop of his work while introducing questions of class and inequality. What does the artist’s studio signify today, and how might it reveal the contours of social and economic disparity?
