Description: “Filling the Sea…[ ]” is a future play on the Chinese myth “Jingwei Filling the Sea”. Jingwei, the daughter of Emperor Yan, drowned in the Eastern Sea and became a bird, carrying twigs and stones to fill the sea—an enduring symbol of impossible perseverance. In this installation, visitors may help Jingwei by adding objects drawn from a changing shoreline—whether natural like stones and branches, discarded like plastics, or fragments born of unseen networks of data training—into the interactive aquarium sea, each action shifting its fragile balance. Both tangible and intangible debris accumulate, and by continuing to fill the future sea, humanity shapes ruins of a kind yet unseen, fragile echoes of our own making.
