These “popular highlights” are already a form of crowdsourced digital labor – fragments of distilled wisdom deemed most useful or aspirational by readers, optimized for quick consumption without engaging with the full texts. Using Markov chains, these fragments are recombined and mutated, hovering between sense and nonsense to produce a homogenized voice of optimization. Faint originals linger in the background, emphasizing the collapse of individuality into repetition and the flattening of meaning.
