I was thinking not only on the exhortation to reproduce as a physical function to create a mother but also on how the task of reproducing tradition falls to the mother. Especially in the conservative mindset it is imagined that the role of women to mindlessly reproduce in both senses traces back through infinite generations and is immutable when on fact these ideals are a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy of something that never really existed.
