Description: Ballroom has been pivotal to my personal journey of self actualization and transition. The specific art of Vogue Femme has shaped the way I view myself as a woman and how I express my femininity. Furthermore, the bonds of sisterhood that I have fostered through ballroom continues a long legacy of transwomen persevering in spite of discriminatory legislation, physical violence, and familial ostracization. While virtually impossible to fully capture the feeling through stagnant means, Hold That Pose For Me attempts to document this essence and unbridled joy that is exuded by Femme Queens. In a world that seeks to erase any semblance of our existence, my piece showcases my community’s literal life as resistance.
