Statement: I am seeking comprehension through materials and temperature. Approaching sculpture with a background in traditional pottery I am interested in the lines that inform an object’s purpose. Understanding which fundamental qualities can be shifted and repurposed, I am attempting to blur the line of functionality. I stubbornly cling to function as a means to give my work a reason to be. This piece is from the school of form with no function. A place that I don’t typically tread. A sculpture contains many good and bad days. I’m left wondering what this object will do now that it exists. What will it see when I am long gone?
