Bio: Rene Smith is an Oakland based painter. Her studio is located in downtown Berkeley. She has shown her work in New York, the Bay Area, and Thailand. She has an MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and a BA from Bennington College in Vermont.

Statement: Rene Smith's current series shapeshifters shifts between abstraction and representation. It explores time and memory and how that can be encapsulated through painting.
