Bio: Alison Alstrom was born in San Francisco in 1969. and began painting in oil as a smaill alongside her aunt. After leaving home and high school at the age of 16, she took classes in drawing and painting at city San Francisco City College and elsewhere through the 80s and 90s. In 1999, she received the Merit Fellowship award in Painting to attend the San Francisco Art Institute. After a period of gestation, she began showing work in 2023. She lives and works in San Francisco's Mission District.
Statement: I work primarily in oil, in a contained palette of earth tones in a naturalistic style. My paintings explore the dual acts of seeing and being seen through close examination of my subjects.
