Bio: I was born in the panhandle of Florida, but I live in Richmond. I received my MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute and BA degrees in Film Studies and English Literature at the University of Colorado. In addition to spaces such as The deYoung museum, The Headlands Center for the Arts, Mills College, USF, Bass & Reiner and the Jules Maeght Gallery, I have shown work in places as far away as Puerto Rico, and was an Affiliate Artist at the Headlands for a few years. I currently live and work in Richmond, CA. My practice often works with archival material, research, interviews, and gathering of stories as a generative inspiration for producing site-responsive visual artworks that rethink histories that have disappeared, or been forgotten, and places them into new contexts. I also make things that don’t follow that plan, (because you can't just do one thing) although they are also byproducts of inquiry.
Statement: Usually, I'm drawn to work that has some kind of conceptual angle, work that embodies some sort of idea. But I also find that you can have too much of a good thing, like too much fancy food, and often you just need a good burrito.
