Description: Rock Socks are part of a series of sculpture about land, place/displacement, climate anxiety, and home insecurity from a series of work called Grounded, using irony to combine comfort and pain. Rock Socks are made of latex that was cast into a silicone mold of a rocky cliffside in coastal California. The latex captures the form of the rocky coastline and was colored to imitate the actual rock. The latex casting of the rocky cliffside was then treated as a textile to create Rock Socks. The sock is double sides with the rocky latex casting on both sides. The top trim of the socks are white tube sock fabric, and the clothespins are velcro-ed to the wall to hold them up.
