Abigail Freed
Bio: Abigail Ruth Freed is a native of Georgia, currently residing in Oakland, CA. She attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and holds a B.A in Studio Art.
Statement: I draw from memories of growing up in a Southern family, using storytelling, familiar objects, and regional imagery to explore life in the Deep South. Working primarily in ceramics, alongside quilting and other media, I revisit the traditions and stories that shaped my childhood. My work considers the space between the South I know firsthand and the South imagined from the outside, and how those perspectives inform ideas of place, belonging, and “Southern” identity.
