Bio: Sammy Gripe is a San Francisco based multidisciplinary artist whose practice moves fluidly between soft sculpture, ceramics, and botanical assemblage. Drawing upon the emotional architecture of interpersonal relationships, Gripe creates intimate works that investigate vulnerability, attachment, memory, and the universal search for comfort and belonging. Her sculptures occupy a space between the familiar and preternatural, exploring the subtle ways objects can function as companions, witnesses, and extensions of self. Gripe has studied at University of Oregon, Beaux Arts de Paris, and San Francisco Art Institute where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture in 2020.
