Bio: Saiya Williams is a multimedia sculpture artist born in Los Angeles, currently based in San Francisco. She is pursuing her BFA at California College of the Arts and will graduate in fall 2026. In her work she explores the boundaries between the ordinary, the traumatic, and the spiritual, engaging psychological and embodied states of expansion. Saiya primarily works in metal, using blacksmithing, TIG, MIG, and oxyacetylene welding to bring her sculptures to life. Her practice extends to wood, wax, nylon, resin, and latex, adapting materials intuitively to the needs of each project. In addition to sculpture, she incorporates digital and film photography, 16mm film, sound, and graphic design to create multimedia installations.
Statement: Saiya is a multidisciplinary sculpture artist based in San Francisco. She works intuitively across a broad range of materials such as metal work, textiles, wax, digital media, and anything else a piece calls for. Her practice acts as a portal, a place where she can transmute a given emotion into something new. This becomes living prayer that offers renewal. She explores the boundaries between the ordinary, the traumatic, the spiritual, psychological and embodied expansion that a piece can create. She is drawn to liminality: the state of being neither here nor there, the transitional space between modes of existence, finding expansion in the “in-between”.
